Personal Favorite Reflection

In the final episode of the television series, “Monk” the director uses several different grammatical moves. They executed each one perfectly. They used pan shots, tilt, angles, and many more. I believe nothing should be change because every move added to the development of the plot and the character(s). It is also an old show, but still seems like it could be from now.

1.        Monk has been searching for his wife’s murderer for 12 long years and finally figures out who it is with the help of his wife and his expert detective skills. The killer knows Monk is an expert detective and that he murdered his wife, so he decides to poison Monk with his own wipes. He is sick and while watching the tape his wife made years ago, finds out the painful truth and decides to take matters into his own hands. He finds himself in some trouble but pulls through and figures everything out as well as gets cured of the deadly poison.

2.         The cuts in the scene help shorten the time of the episode so the audience is able to sit back in their seats and the plot is developed faster. Also, the pan shots add lots of dramatic effect to the scenes in the episode making the plot even more interesting.

3.        The angles of the film help develop the character of Monk. The medium shots help create an emotional connectivity to the audience and help them see his emotions and facial expressions.
